LYE Town extended their winning run to six games to lift themselves into second place in the Midland Football League's Premier Division.

Two quick fire victories have maintained their fine form.

They beat Shepshed Dynamo 1-0 away last Saturday before following it up with a 2-1 win at home to Tipton Town on Tuesday night.

Joint boss Martin Thomas said: "They were two hard-fought wins. We would probably be expected to win but we had to get the job done.

"Tipton have a lot of players that had past connection with us, so it was pleasing to get the win."

However, he refused to get carried away and said he and fellow manager Darren Goodall would be more than happy with a top six finish.

"We have a good group at the moment with lots of strengths," he added. "This season was all about finding our feet at this level and it is clear we have done that.

"We have also been able to give some experience to young players so everything is heading in the right direction."

Town don't have a game this weekend but will take on Brocton at home next Tuesday.

James Spray may be available after recovering from a virus but Matt Johnson (calf) and Kevin Nickle (ankle) could miss out.

Scott Gennard still has two games to serve of a suspension.

Thomas also confirmed he is in the market for an attacking midfielder or forward to boost numbers.
