LYE Town boss Martin Thomas is expecting a tough test when his team take on Alvechurch this Saturday.

Second-placed Lye are on a five game unbeaten run but will come up against an Alvechurch side under the guidance of new manager Lee Knight.

The former assistant boss took on the main role after Lee Adams stepped down. Knight had an instant impact last Saturday as Church claimed a 2-1 home win over promotion challengers Basford.

Thomas said: "It won't be easy, especially because they have a new man in charge. He has already had an instant impact so it looks like the players have responded to him.

"It would be nice to get the win and continue our fine form.

"We had a good game at their place earlier in the season which ended in a draw. We probably just edged it that day but didn't get the win."

Lye didn't have a game last Saturday and Tuesday night's contest with Brocton was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

It means Thomas has a fully fit squad to choose from ahead of the weekend. Only Matt Johnson is a slight doubt but forward James Spray should be fit to feature.

Thomas confirmed a couple of unattached players have been training with the squad recently but said no one has yet put pen to paper.
