FIGHTERS from Priory Park Boxing Club are set to demonstrate their skills during a packed show next month.

Boxers of varied ages will go head to head with opponents from clubs from across the country at the Copthorne Hotel, Merry Hill, on Saturday, February 21.

The open event will see 10 year olds taking part in skills bouts before contests for fighters aged 11 to adult. The bill could also include a female contest.

Highlights of the event will see light heavyweight Shane Davies contest the West Midlands Title and light heavyweight Josh Miller go for the Centre Area Title.

Meanwhile, Priory Park's boxers have been handed a major boost after a new sponsor weighed in to support the facility.

The club, based in Priory Road, Dudley, is now being sponsored by Companion Care veterinary practice in Oldbury and Vets4Pets at Merry Hill, both of which are run by Monish Malhotra.

Mr Malhotra has previously trained at Priory Park with coach Paul Gough and boxed for charity.

"It has been a great past passion of mine to have worked along side such talented boxers and I have now been able to show my admiration of this sport by proudly sponsoring a fantastic boxing club," he said.

"This has been very close to my heart from a young age and with the amazing support of Paul Gough, who is an inspiration to adults and children alike, I understand the great importance the club has within the Black Country community."
