CHAIRMAN Colin Brookes was full of praise for the players and manager John Hill after they helped secure derby day delight.

The Yeltz bagged a brilliant 2-0 win over rivals Stourbridge at The Grove on Easter Monday.

The win ended a 12 game winless streak and handed Hales the bragging rights in front of more than 1,700 spectators.

A goal from Yeltz captain Joe Hull handed the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break. Iyseden Christie won and then converted a penalty early in the second half to help Hales towards a comfortable success.

Brookes said: "The players were brilliant and it was a great occasion for the fans.

"It has been a really good season overall and that tops it off brilliantly.

There could be no better game to end our poor run. Our aim now must be to finish with a flurry.

"Full credit must go to the team and John Hill, who got his tactics spot on for the big game.

"We were tremendous from start to finish and you could tell there was only going to be one winner as soon as the game started.

"We worked really hard and kept the pressure up all game. The players responded for the fans.

"It was important that we stopped their wide men and stopped the service to Luke Benbow. I think we did that brilliantly and also handled our pitch a lot better as well.

The Yeltz went into the game on the back of a 2-1 loss away at Blyth Spartans last Saturday.

Christie could only manage a late consolation for a side that features a host of changes with the derby game on the horizon.
