CRADLEY Town secured their first win of the season on Tuesday night after boss Mark Jones made sweeping changes to his line-up.

The Hammers beat Bewdley Town 4-1 at The Beeches to banish the memory of last Saturday’s disappointing 3-0 defeat against Black Country Rangers.

Unhappy with what he saw at the weekend, Jones made a total of seven changes for the Bewdley clash.

The decision proved a successful one thanks to a brace from Adam Meacham and strikes from Aaron Lloyd and Luke Paskin handed the Hammers their first three points of the new West Midland Premier Division campaign.

Jones said: “The game against Black Country Rangers was the worst I have seen us. Something had to be done because we just weren’t at the races.

“I got the reaction I wanted against Bewdley. The work-rate and overall attitude of the team was 100 per cent better.

“The fact I can make that many changes and beat a team that has started as well as Bewdley shows how strong our squad is.

“It showed where we should be and the potential we have.”

Cradley travel to take on Bromyard Town this Saturday (3pm).

“Our aim now is to build on Tuesday’s result,” added Jones. “We now need to get some more points on the board.

“I expected our performances to be up and down at the start but that should settle down the more games we play.”
