MANAGER John Hill is looking to bolster his Halesowen Town squad with more experience.

The Yeltz secured only their second win of the season last Saturday by beating Workington 2-0 at The Grove, but slumped to a disappointing 3-0 loss away at Sutton Coldfield on Monday.

Hill is now keen to boost his side with a few more experienced players to complement his new-look team.

“The game against Sutton highlighted how we are missing some experience throughout the squad,” he said.

“We have a lot of younger players here, many of who are new to the club this summer.

“I’m now looking to bring in a few older heads to offer us a bit more depth. We are talking to a number of targets and will hopefully get something done very soon.”

Hill was delighted with his side’s showing against Workington but admits Monday’s contest came too soon.

The Yeltz were without Saturday’s goalscorer Greg Pearson with a groin injury and defender Chris Westwood with a calf problem.

“Against Workington we put in a really solid performance in all areas of the pitch,” he added. “It highlighted the progress the players are starting to make.

“But then the Sutton game was awful. It came far to soon for some of the younger lads we have and we had a few injuries to contend with as well.

“If ever there was a time when we needed a week between games then this was it.”

Hales welcome Darlington to The Grove this Saturday as they look for their third success in front of their own fans.

“Home form is huge in this league, especially while we are waiting for the players to really gel together,” added the boss.

“I think we would have progressed if we could have kept most of last season’s squad together but we had to bring a lot in.

“Overall, they are progressing really well and we now need to focus on reproducing Saturday’s form rather than Monday’s in a game that will be very tough for us.”

Former attacker Jean-Michel Gueyes has now returned to the club from Solihull and featured in the last two games.
