YELTZ boss John Hill thinks his side will be better judged by this weekend’s trip to Whitby rather than their defeat at high-flying Workington last Saturday.

Halesowen lost 3-0 at the Northern Premier League’s second placed side as they slipped to back-to-back losses.

Town manager Hill praised the promotion contenders but felt the showing wasn’t an honest reflection on his side after disrupted preparations.

He said: “It was always going to be a difficult place to go and credit has to go to Workington because they were very good on the day. But I don’t think things really went our way leading up to the game.

“They had played the week before but our game was postponed. They then had a game mid-week but we could hardly train because of the conditions.

“It meant they had the benefit of 180 minutes of football compared to our half an hour of training. We then travelled a long way and were faced with a very heavy pitch.

“This week we have trained twice and have the bonus of being in action last weekend, so we should be able to give a better account of ourselves.

“However, saying that, if you look at their recent results it’s clear it will still be tough for us. It’s a long way to go and a point would probably be a very good result, but we will go there looking for all three points.

“We do need to start picking up more points to consolidate our position in mid-table.”

Meanwhile, forward Nathan Waite has gone out on-loan to Midland Football League side Alvechurch where he will link up for his former manager at Tividale Ian Long.

“Nathan picked up and injury and was struggling to train or play,” explained Hill.

“He is now back but needs to be playing regular games so hopefully he’ll get that at Alvechurch. He knows their boss very well and ”

The boss at the Grove said that no new arrivals are on the cards at present and wouldn’t be drawn on rumours that his budget has been significantly slashed for the second half of the campaign.

“Finances are always tight at Halesowen,” he said.

“Overall I’m happy with the group we have at the moment and will be working with them without anyone else coming in.

“At the moment we haven’t got any approaches pending and no current plans to add to the squad.”
