HALESOWEN Town will have to be at their very best when Salford City visit the Grove, says manager John Hill.

The Yeltz will welcome promotion hopefuls Salford, famously backed by former Manchester United team-mates Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, this Saturday (3pm).

City are also set to be followed by the cameras to Old Hawne Lane due to filming begins for the second instalment of a BBC documentary about the club.

Manager John Hill said: “All of the players will have to perform to the best of their ability if we want to take something from the game.

“It is going to be a tough ask but I think we have shown that we are capable of giving anyone at this level a game on our day.

“They are flying at the moment but we know a lot about them and how they play.

“Our players know that they may be on camera because of the documentary being filmed again, so hopefully that will lift them and they will embrace the occasion even more.”

Town go into the game on the back of successive away defeats.

The Yeltz lost 2-1 at Whitby last Saturday as they failed to bounce back from the previous week’s loss at high-flying Workington.

However, Hill thinks his side could have taken something from the clash if only they had defended better.

“I think a draw would have been a fair result,” he said. “Their second goal should have been prevented.

“It was a long journey and the game was played in difficult conditions but we still should have stopped their second.

“We will certainly have to defend a lot better against Salford.”

One positive against Whitby was that on-loan forward Kaiman Anderson found the back of the net for the fourth time.

Hill thinks the young striker can now build on that heading into the final part of the campaign.

“He is a good kid that has a bright future ahead of him as long as he keeps his feet on the ground,” he added.

“There is no reason why he can’t get double figures for us this season. If he continues the way he has been playing then he shouldn’t be far off.”

The boss also reiterated the need for his team to end the season well.

He said: “We didn’t end last season well and that is something I don’t want to happen again.

“We do need to pick up a few more wins, and quickly. That would settle us down a little and take the pressure off.

“You will see a lot of teams start to strengthen soon, especially if they have something still to play for. But that is something that we can’t do because of the financial restrains at the club.

“We have to look around for a certain type of player that will fit how we play first of all and even then we may not be able to afford them. It means we will continue to work with the same group for the moment and see if we can build some more momentum.

“Getting something from the Salford game is just the sort of result that could really kick start us.”

After Saturday, Hales will only have five more games at the Grove this season.
