JUNIOR Swimmers travelled to Stafford for the second round of the Junior League last Saturday.

After coming second in round one, Halesowen swimmers moved up a gear and performed strongly from the start and moved into the lead. They remained in front throughout the gala to finish with a comfortable win.

Star of the show was Jacob Bailey who won three individual races, winning the 50-metre backstroke in his own 11 years age group and the age group above, and also the 50m breaststroke.

Naimh Larkin was a double-event winner in the 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.

Individual winners were William Walker and Adam Ryan in the 50m freestyle, Sarah Elfrey in the 50m breaststroke and Jamie Worton in the 50m butterfly.

It was the first year for the nine-year-old swimmers, and they performed well. Double event winner was Caleb Darby in the 25m butterfly and 25m freestyle. Individual winners were Ryan Worton and Jasmine Alderson in the 25m breaststroke and Beau Luscombe in the 25m backstroke.

The relay teams were also successful with both the 11-year-old boys and girls teams winning both their medley and freestyle relays. The girls team was Libby Hickman, Sarah Elfrey, Tegan Turley and Jemima Vaughan-Hawkins. The boys team included Jacob Bailey, Noah Taylor, Jamie Worton and Adam Ryan.

The nine-year-old boys and girls also won both their medley and freestyle relays and the mixed age boys 8x1 freestyle team were also winners.
