ENGLAND football legend Glenn Hoddle presented medals and the Fair Play trophy to Stourbridge football team, Forest Falcons Under-10s East, in this year’s Weymouth tournament.

Nine of the regular squad travelled to the south coast to take part in the 2-day event featuring junior teams from all over the country.

Head coach James Worship said: “Our boys came up against strong opposition but played some good football to finish fifth overall after a battling goalless draw against the eventual winners. We are, however, delighted to receive the coveted Fair Play Trophy which is voted for by the tournament referees and awarded for the team, managers and spectators who show the best sportsmanship, respect and attitude throughout the tournament."

The trophy was presented to team captain Logan Chatwin at the tournament’s glittering awards ceremony by Glenn Hoddle, who also presented every team member with a commemorative medal and gave them individual words of congratulations and encouragement. The trophy will be presented again in front of the whole club at the Forest Falcons JFC presentation evening at Stourbridge Town Hall in June.

Forest Falcons Junior Football Club was established in 1977 and currently has teams for kids from 8 to 18 years old, participating in the Stourbridge and Dudley Youth Football League.

An FA Charter Standard grassroots club, Forest Falcons is not for profit, and wholly run by volunteers (mainly parents). The emphasis is on fun and participation - so all the children get equal opportunity to play football regardless of ability. There is an opening for a new coach/manager to set up a squad for Under-7s – if you are interested, email forest.falcons@outlook.com.
