DUDLEY Kingswinford's impressive pre-season programme continued with victory over Silhillians last Friday.

DK scored five tries and conceded two against their visitors at Heathbrook. The win backs up their previous week's friendly success over Bromsgrove.

DK opened the scoring with a try from Joe Tighe, who has impressed on the flank in both games so far. He was perfectly placed to run in a try following a sweeping move towards DK’s right wing after an inside pass exposed a hole in the cover defence, Duncan Tomkins added the extras.

DK were able to place Sils underpressure and stretched the defence with their phase play. The second try was again a team effort with ball retention in the ruck and maul before it was shipped wide, this time to the left, when some inter passing saw Luke Greenwood put through. Again Tomkins added the extras to make it 14-0.

Just before half time, Silhillians were back in the game, they had driven up the field towards the DK 22 where a ruck was formed and Danny Hawkins was penalised for going in at the side. Sils took a quick penalty and before the home defence could organise they were over for a try under the posts, with the easy kick making it 14-7 at the break.

DK secured the game within the third quarter with two tries from prop Arran Hudson. Both came from a penalty into the corner, a line out win and a well set-up driving maul, with Hudson coming up with the ball on both occasions.

Sils went over for their second try before DK answered again through Hawkins. The scoring was completed when George Ingram slotted a long conversion from a difficult angle to make it 31-12 at full time.

Bridgnorth visit Heathbrook this Saturday (2.30pm kick-off).
