OLD Hill face a vital clash with Sutton Coldfield on Saturday as they continue to right for survival in Division One of the Birmingham Premier League.

Captain Danny Cox’s men suffered a disappointing four-wicket defeat against Barnards Green at Haden Hill last Saturday to stay in the danger zone.

Batting first after losing the toss, Old Hill made 164-6 in a clash reduced to 40 overs each after a rain delay.

Opener Harry Baddams (51) gave his side a solid foundation despite the loss four wickets for just 61 runs early on after being put in to bat.

Cox, Omar Dawood, Monil Patel and Hamza Ahmed all failed to support Baddams for a prolonged spell.

After several cheap dismissals, a knock of 66 off 62 balls from number six Thomas Elwell gave his side a chance.

Visitors Green made a good start to their chase as their opening pair put on 61 before George Rhodes fell to the bowling of Brendon Buchanan.

Fellow opener Josh Haynes fell one run short of his half-century but Kyle Giniotis’ 44 helped Green towards their target.

Old Hill now welcome bottom side Sutton on Saturday (noon start) looking to give themselves a chance of beating the drop.
