GORNAL Athletic boss Matt Fisher admits his side need to quickly find a winning formula to avoid being cut adrift at the bottom of the West Midlands Premier League.

The Peacocks lost 6-0 at Bewdley Town last Saturday to make it three defeats on the bounce since the new manager took over.

Fisher admits his task is tough but thinks their are shoots of recovery at Garden Walk despite having to issue a half time team talk on the pitch at Bewdley.

He said: "It was a real Jekyll and Hyde performance from us. The first half was probably the worst 45 minutes of football I've ever been involved with at any level.

"I told the players that on the pitch at Bewdley and made a few changes but it looked like some of them didn't want to be there.

"Thankfully we improved in the second half and I got the reaction I wanted. They put a real shift in and missed three one-on-ones, so the scoreline could have looked a little differently if we'd have taken our chances.

"At the moment the players look as though they are playing with the world on their shoulders. Heads are quick to drop when they go behind.

"I'm conscious of the fact that there is a gap at the bottom and it is something we need to address quickly. It is no good targeting points against teams around us, we need to pick them up from other teams as well."

Gornal don't have a game this Saturday but will take on Nuneaton Griff at home in the Birmingham Mid-week Floodlit Cup next Tuesday.

"It doesn't matter where a win comes from now," added the boss. "We need to find confidence from anywhere we can. We will be doing all we can to win that game to try and build some momentum."

Meanwhile, Fisher admits he has been left frustrated in his attempts to attract more players to the club.
