GLASSBOYS boss Gary Hackett says his players are fully focused on picking up league points despite their looming FA Cup encounter with Northampton Town.

Stourbridge took their unbeaten run to six games with last Saturday's success over Buxton at Amblecote and now face another big Northern Premier League test against Workington this weekend.

The manager is determined not to look to their second round tie against the Cobblers until after this Saturday's home game (3pm kick-off).

He said: "We are not even thinking about it.

"The league is our bread and butter and is ultimately where we will be judged.

"We will be looking to take another three points on Saturday and they'll be no letting up.

"If you start to hold back and don't play flat out then that is when you'll pick up an injury.

"I expect the players to focus only on the Workington game. Only when that has passed can we start to think about the FA Cup again."

Red hot hitman Luke Benbow hit a double against Buxton before Kayleden Brown added another.

However, Stour switched off late on as the visitors mounted a fightback to get to within one goal at full time.

Hackett hopes the nervy ending will act as a warning to his squad for the big games to come.

"Up until the last ten minutes it was a very accomplished performance," he added. "We were well on top and could even have gone further ahead.

"Hopefully we learn a vital lesson from that because it could have been the biggest kick in the teeth for us.

"Instead we have come away with three points without it costing us, which is the main thing. We just need to learn from it."

Stour didn't have the chance to build on the Buxton win after last Monday's scheduled clash with Ilkeston fell victim to a waterlogged pitch.

That postponement, however, does give three or four players the chance to get over a few knocks ahead of the weekend Benbow's recent exploits in front of goal have now taken him joint top of the league's goalscoring charts. He's now level with Rushall Olympic's Alex Reid on 13 goals.

Hackett was full of praise for the forward, saying: "The one thing Luke will always give you is goals.

"I have always had a good relationship with Luke and when I brought him back to the club I said that their would be pressure on him and me at times this season, but I know the threat he can be.

"We work hard with him to keep him fresh and fit and he is rewarding us with goals. He has also build up a great rapport with the fans as well.

"The challenge for him now is to maintain the same level throughout the season."

Tickets for Stour's eagerly-anticipated FA Cup clash are now on sale to season ticket holders and members.
