MANAGER Dave King reckons Tividale's survival bid is "on the right track" but admits the build-up to Christmas may prove decisive.

Tivi had no fixture last weekend but were set to return to action at home to Alvechurch in the JW Hunt Cup on Tuesday before welcoming Quorn on Saturday (3pm).

A trip to Highgate follows and despite being four points from safety, King believes his troops can gain some ground.

On Tivi's relegation battle, King said: "It is a long season. We are not half way through yet with a lot of points to play for and we are in a far better position than we were a month ago.

"There are some tough games coming up. The league is our priority and now confidence has been boosted by a few results, we look solid.

"We have been slightly unfortunate in recent matches but there is no doubt we are on the right track and the two games in the build up to Christmas are big ones for us.

Meanwhile, King has recruited Stourbridge-based defender or midfielder Chris Hill from Midland League Division Three outfit Alcester Town.

"He is versatile," said King. "He has been training with us for a couple of weeks now and we like the look of him.

"Chris has some good experience having come through at Redditch and played for Studley as well. He wanted to step up the ladder which is the sort of player we want. At 22, he is the right age too.

"I am really happy with the squad now. Like any other manager, if the right player becomes available you are always interested but I am quite content with the group we have."
