CELEBRATIONS are underway at Halesowen Triathlon Club as the club was officially announced as ‘Triathlon England West Midlands Club of the Year 2016’.

Awarded by Triathlon England, the award recognises the achievements, dedication and passion of the club over the past 12 months.

The award win rounds off a successful year for the club and its members who have hosted their own annual triathlon, have competed in a multitude of events covering all three disciplines nationally and have seen a numbers of members take to further afield and compete in the prestigious Ironman events in Wales and France.

Speaking on behalf of the club, head coach John Batchelor said: “We are overwhelmed and extremely pleased to be recognised as the club of the year. Our club members, coaches and committee work tirelessly to help raise the profile of the sport and it’s a great honour to have our achievements and dedication recognised on a wider scale.”

The award was officially presented to the Club at the British Triathlon Federation Regional Awards Evening on November 20.

Formed in 2009, Halesowen Tri Club trains in all three triathlon disciplines with dedicated coaching sessions taking place weekly. Going from strength to strength the club welcomes new members of all ages and abilities, with a dedicated junior section for younger athletes who have a keen interest in the sport.
