GORNAL Athletic boss Matt Fisher said his club are already looking ahead to next season with eight games still left to play.

The Peacocks currently sit rock bottom of the WMRL Premier Division, with only two wins all season to their name, and relegation all but confirmed.

Fisher said: “We have got eight games to play and eight games to give everything we’ve got.

“A lot of the lads have already said that they want to be part of Gornal going forward so they will want to put up a good showing of themselves and continue to develop for next season.

“We are already looking ahead to next season and I want to bring in one or two players this week and hopefully they’ll be in the squad for Saturday.

“The players we are looking at have some good experience at this level and will help the younger lads in the side.

“Conversations have already started with the board, to a degree, regards looking at bringing in players, but we will sit down at the end of the season to prepare for next season and decide how best to move forward.”

Survival will not get any easier this week as Fisher’s team welcome runaway league leaders Haughmond to the Garden Walk Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick off) following last night’s outing against Ellesmere Rangers.
