NETHERTON continued their climb up the Division Three table after a six wicket victory over fellow high-flyers Bartestree & Lugwardine.

The side continued the form they rediscovered in victory at Avoncroft last weekend, with the latest win putting the team just two points off third place in the Worcestershire County League.

Captain Matt Lowe’s men now sit just one win behind second placed Himbleton, but are short of their league rivals by 32 points.

But the gap to the team in third – Saturday’s hosts Bartestree & Lugwardine – is down to single figures after Netherton kept their opponents down to a score of 261-9 off the 50 overs, with Bartestree’s Munn scoring 86.

Chasing the target, Lowe put in a captain’s performance by top scoring 84 for his side, after opener Russell Oseland (46) just fell short of his half-century.

Netherton’s reply was dominant as the side reached 265 within 46.4 overs after dropping only four wickets.

The Highbridge Road outfit will hope to close the gap to the sides above them this Saturday as Netherton play host to second placed Himbleton from 1pm.
