ATHLETES from Dudley Kingswinford Running Club were among the prizes again this weekend at a hot and dusty Wyre Forest.

A group of club runners took part in the Wyre Forest Half Marathon, with the 13.1 mile race covering trails, tracks and fire roads through the forest with plenty of ups and downs.

The first two miles were predominantly downhill making for a fast start but a slow finish as runners had to come back up those same two miles to the finish.

Dave Norman was first home for the hoops in 17th place in 1.36.29, Mark Homer came home in 20th place in 1.39.26 to take the first MV55 prize and Andy Sprague finished in 1.39.48 to take 22nd place.

Helen Tromans crossed the line as third lady picking up a prize and claiming 31st overall in 1.43.43, Richard Jones was 49th in 1.47.39, Andrew Weaver was 107th in 2.02.18 and Lisa Kendrick was 152nd in 2.12.24.

Twenty four hours earlier, over a similar off road course and over the same distance, Steve Holdcroft took part in the Eastridge Trail Half Marathon. Holdcroft placed a very impressive sixth stopping the clock in 1.33.13.

Over the shorter 10k distance Dave Ede took part in the Tatton Park 10k finishing in 48.00 in 92nd place and Helen Noke took part in the Ludlow 10k, although advertised as the 6.2 mile distance, the course was considerably over distance with runners covering nearer seven miles, finishing in 256th place in 1.36.01.
