FORMER Glassboys defender Paul McCone has re-signed for his fourth spell at the club after moving from AFC Telford United.

McCone – affectionately known as Macca – returns to the War Memorial Ground having originally joined the side in 2010 after being released from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

During his three previous seasons with the Glassboys, McCone notched up more than 150 appearances, most notably scoring the opening goal in the infamous FA Cup First Round replay win against Plymouth Argyle in November 2011.

Since then, he has also had spells at Leamington and Hednesford Town before signing for Telford.

The 25-year-old centre-half made 24 appearances for the Bucks in National League North last season after recovering from a severe knee injury.

A spokesman for the club said: “We welcome Paul back ‘home’ to Stourbridge. We hope his stay will be a happy and successful one.”

AFC Telford also wished him well on the move as its official Twitter account posted: “Everyone at the football club would like to wish @psmccone1 all the best in the future as he joins @StourbridgeFC. Good Luck Macca.”

Glassboys’ build-up to the new season continues next week with a home friendly against Birmingham City’s U23s on Tuesday, July 18, following a goal-less draw with West Bromwich Albion’s U23s on Saturday.

The behind closed doors draw at the Baggies’ training ground saw both teams fielding entirely different line-ups in each half.

Admission prices for the 7.45pm kick off against the Blues, as well as the following Tuesday night home tie against Redditch United, have been released.

Adults can watch the Birmingham game for £10, senior citizens cost £7, 13-18-year-olds are £5 and under 13s are free. Over 16s can watch the Redditch game for £5, while under 16s can get in for free.
