HALESOWEN boss John Hill dedicated his side's derby double over Stourbridge to the club's supporters.

The Yeltz won 1-0 at the Grove thanks to Ahmed Ali's first half strike. Stour ended the contest with ten men after Stuart Pierpoint saw red for a foul for halting an Ivor Lawton burst forward in the second half.

It was a win that handed Town a league double over the Glassboys this season but more importantly moved them nine points clear of bottom side Sutton Coldfield in the league's only relegation place.

Hill said: "Halesowen fans haven't had a lot to cheer about and I know you can't base this season on beating Stourbridge twice but it's good for the supporters.

"There were 1,700 here today and the club has been in a little bit of turmoil over the last six months and we've done the double over our local rivals.

"I'm just pleased that the supporters have got something to go back and smile about."

On the game, he added: "I think it had a bit of everything. Goalmouth action, obviously a win to Halesowen and unfortunately a red card.

"It's a foul but it's not a red. If I'm honest, I think the ref makes his decision too early. He's searching in his back pocket before he's even given himself any thinking time."

The boss was also full of praise for the hard work of lone forward Lee Hughes.

He said: "He's worked really hard and done all that as a lone striker and you have to remember that he's got all that experience but he's 41. He's still putting that kind of shift in which is a credit to him."
