NEIL Shillingford has challenged his Dudley Kingswinford players to stay focused as they approach the final weeks of the season

The director of rugby at Heathbrook has been left frustrated by the lack of action for his side due to a host of weather-related postponements.

That continued last Saturday as their clash at Melbourne became the latest to fall to a waterlogged surface.

It means DK have played just one game in the last six weeks as they prepare to face Rugby Lions away this Saturday.

Shillingford underlined the importance of his players being quick out the blocks when they finally get back underway.

He said: "It has been very frustrating for us.

"All you can do is get the players in training and make sure they stay fully focused.

"Training has been good and hopefully we can pick up where we left off.

"We'd said the previous week against Moseley that it was the ideal game to blow away the cobwebs but now we have to do that again.

"We need to have the same attitude against Rugby Lions. Though they haven't had a great run after Christmas they are in the battle to stay in the league and we can't take them lightly.

"Our challenge will be to hit the ground running again."

Second-placed DK are now 10 points away from leader Burton after their rivals bagged a 56-7 success at home to Lutterworth last Saturday.

The Heathbrook outfit have a game in hand on the table-toppers and two on third-placed Bromsgrove who sit one point behind.

Shillingford admits it could be an interesting run-in to the season with games now stretching well into May.

"We don't know exactly when the season will finish at the moment or when the play-off will be so we'll just focus on the next game for now.

"A lot of things could change by May due to players being away because the season would normally be finished."

DK have no injury concerns ahead of the trip to Rugby Lions. Their next game at Heathbrook will be against Stoke on April 14.
