OLD Hill bounced back to winning ways with victory at Old Elizabethans.

Former Warwickshire seam bowler Naqaash Tahir bagged a five-wicket haul to help his side to a 157-run success last Saturday.

Old Hill had been put into bat but chalked up 229 thanks to Ravi Nagra's 69. He helped them recover from losing both openers, Zain Shahid and Harry Baddams, for ducks.

Tahir soon got into his stride as the hosts were bowled out for just 72 by the 23rd over.

The win sees Old Hill hit back after the previous weekend's loss at home to Stourbridge.

Skipper Jonathan Wright said: "Whilst we were disappointed with the loss against Stourbridge we certainly weren't disheartened.

"It was really pleasing to get back to winning ways in the way we did."

The captain was also quick to praise Tahir's all-round impact.

He said: "He has bowled beautifully all season without getting the luck he deserved.

"On Saturday he got a few nicks and can bowl in or out whenever he wants. "He's also contributed with the bat as well at important times.

"He's a calm head, has a great attitude as an ex-pro and really helps the team."

Old Hill will now look to build more momentum when they go to league leaders Rugby this Saturday (noon start).

Wright added: "It's going to be a really interesting game against a side that is doing really well this season after promotion.

"They are probably on the crest of a wave and it'll be good to test ourselves. It's a game we're really looking forward to."
