THE top teams in the Worcestershire County League all hit winning form to secure valuable points as the mid-way point of the season approaches.

Division One First XI leaders Stourport beat Feckenham by four wickets at Walshes Meadow in a very low scoring game where sixteen wickets fell for just over one hundred runs.

Second-placed Worcester won a thriller at Whitegates Farm against Worcester Nomads by just one run in a match that the home team looked to have the upper hand for the most part.

Gareth Lewis scored a fine undefeated 115 and Nick Wilkinson chipped in with 91 to set up a comfortable win for third place Bewdley against lowly Cookley.

Muhammad Saqib 112 and 88 from overseas player Johnson Lordhusamy helped fourth-placed Evesham beat basement side Burghill by hefty margin.

Fifth-placed Hagley, thanks to a fine 95 from Lee Nightingale, chased down Pedmore's first innings total to win by nine wickets and a Bilal Hassan undefeated century was enough to help Chaddesley remain in sixth spot as they beat Colwall at Stowe Lane by thirty three runs.

A fine one hundred and forty five run opening partnership between Nick Leighton (78) and Ed Oliver (54) led current Division Two First XI table toppers Bromyard to victory against Enville.

The Herefordshire outfit are now ten points clear of Bredon who moved into second place after Martin Hill scored 71 to help them beat Kempsey by a comfortable margin.

A fine run chase by Droitwich Spa saw them gain victory by three wickets at Coombs Wood who dropped to third. James Snow scored 97 for Wormelow as they overcame fourth-placed Oldswinford by seven wickets and Belbroughton remain in fifth as they chased down Himbleton's revised first innings score in a rain reduced second innings.

In the other match in the division Old Vigornians continued on their hot streak as they bowled well to beat Bartestree by 22 runs in a mid-table encounter.

In Division Three First XI Lye kept up the pressure on table toppers Rushwick as they amassed a huge first innings 384-7 to beat Five Ways by over two hundred runs at home, they trail Rushwick by just one point as the south Worcestershire side travelled to Avoncroft and won by a narrow two wicket margin to stay top.

Alvechurch remain in third despite suffering their second defeat on the bounce as they lost to in-form, fourth placed Martley by eight wickets, Harborne were another team to keep up their winning ways as they travelled to Netherton and won by over one hundred runs.

In other matches a brilliant 130 from Eastnor all-rounder Josh Emery helped his team beat Bromsgrove (for who Mark Bilbrough posted 96) by two wickets and a half century from Rory Mathews helped Hanley Castle & Upton secure their long-awaited first victory of the season against bottom of the table Malvern.

In Division Four First XI the top six all won to ensure no real change in the divisional picture.

Halesowen continue to cruise at the top as undefeated scores of 91 from J Ashton and 52 from Richard Cox helped gain victory over Himley at the Earls High School.

Iqbal Kasana (80*) and Steve Treadwell (78*) were another undefeated pair who helped their side to victory as they led second placed Romsley to victory by six wickets against Alveley for whom Will Rodenhurst scored a fine undefeated century.

Stourbridge stay in third as they beat Stourport by sixteen runs, Dennis Freeman (4-22) secured fourth spot for Astwood Bank as they dismissed Kidderminster in the second innings to win by thirty nine runs and Claverley remain fifth after Freddie Harris took 5-27 in the first innings against Tenbury Wells which helped set up a six wicket win for the Shropshire side.

In the remaining match in the division Matthew Blatherwick-Hindmarsh (83*) and Phillip Chaundy (78*) shared an undefeated opening partnership of 162 to help West Malvern to a ten wicket victory against second from bottom Hallow Taverners.
