As a Lodgefield Road resident, I welcome St. Modwen's proposals, as do the Coombes Wood Social and Cricket Club and Olive Hill Primary School, both of whom will gain greatly.

No surprise to hear that local councillors are still frantically working the strings of any crackpot that will agree to say anything to please someone in a suit. Why are the councillors so desperate to stop people having their say? Because these plans are a complete mess taking open space, greenbelt, Landscape Heritage Area views and away from local people purely for the pleasure of St Modwens shareholders. Not to mention a well established cricket and social club which is to be torn up by the roots and moved to a completely unsuitable area – anyone for cricket on the highest, windiest ridge from here to the Urals?

If motorcycles on the wedge bother residents living nearby, I hope that the noise and floodlights of two football fields, a social club, 48 space car park and the events needed to keep the clubs going will provide a more relaxing atmosphere. If it doesn’t, residents will able to make their concerns known to the overspill parking of the 500 member club as they return to their cars parked in front of your house.
