Heathens fans urged to pack the terraces for monster meeting

DUDLEY bosses are urging supporters old and new to pack the Monmore Green terraces this evening for the biggest meeting since the famous Heathens name re-entered the sport.

The former Cradley club face great rivals Mildenhall in the first leg of the National League play-off Final (7.30pm), with the second leg of the KO Cup Final to follow, giving a bumper programme of 30 races.

Club chairman Nigel Pearson said: “It’s a fantastic night of action ahead and we need all of our supporters right behind us. It’s a massive night for the club.

“I know there are people who haven’t come along since we launched this project because of us running home matches at Wolverhampton, or because we don’t use the Cradley name, and I fully understand and respect that.

“But I would urge them that, if they haven’t been before, please come along tonight and see what we’re all about. We have guests from Dudley and Sandwell Council in attendance too, and obviously we want to show everyone how much passion there still is for the Heathens.

“The boys are totally up for it and they respond to having the crowd roaring them on in big numbers, so we want to have the terraces packed and create a fantastic atmosphere.”

Admission prices for the double-header, featuring 30 races, are £15 for adults, £10 concessions and £2 children. A 36-page full colour commemorative programme has been produced and costs £3.

Meanwhile, tomorrow's second leg of the National League play-off semi-final will now take place at King's Lynn (7.30pm start).

The Norfolk Arena have stepped to stage the meeting because recent weather conditions mean Mildenhall’s West Row circuit is unfit for racing.
