Leaders Brierley Hill beat reigning champions

BRIERLEY Hill Sports Bar A beat reigning Stourbridge Snooker League champions Kinver Constitutional to maintain a nine point lead at the top.

The 4-1 win came courtesy of Luke Garland, Saqib Nasir, Jon Bate and Callum Downing, with Craig Southall replying for Kinver, whose title challenge is fading rapidly.

Norton Social A stay second after recording a 4-1 win of their own against Brierley Hill’s B team, while West Midlands Police moved back into third, four points further adrift after a 4-1 win over Snooks A.

Andy Round won the decider for Amblecote Institute A on the tables of Snooks B.

Meanwhile, last season’s two promoted teams continue to flounder.

Stourbridge Institute A went down 4-1 away to Brierley Hill’s C team and Pockets SC B lost 3-2 to their own A team.

First Division: Kingswinford RBL A went six points clear at the top after overwhelming Stourbridge Institute A 5-0. The game included a 13th straight win for Kingswinford’s Anthony Davies. Netherton Sports and Social remain second after having a bye week, while third-placed Amblecote RBL closed to within two points of Netherton with a 4-1 success at Wombourne.

Paul Ross, Thomas Male, John Byng and Tim Carter earned Kingswinford SC a 4-1 win at home to Kinver Constitutional C, after Steve Jones had taken the opener for the visitors.

They lie joint fourth in the table with Kinver’s B team, who did well to defeat the in-form Brierley Hill Sports Bar D 4-1 at home.

Kingswinford Cons A won 3-2 at Amblecote Institue A, while Dibdale’s quest for a first win continues as they lost 5-0 to Norton Social B.

Second Division: Baggeridge Social increased their lead at the top to three points by virtue of a 5-0 maximum at Amblecote Institute E.

Ryan Allmark did well to beat Stephen Taylor, who is having a fine season, while Luke Whale, Martin Collingridge, Matt Whale and Frankie Bennett were their other winners.

Kinver Constitutional D held on to second place but had to work hard to battle past Amblecote’s C team 3-2.

Stourbridge Institute C are two points further back after a 4-1 success at Kingswinford RBL B.

Kingswinford Cons B held on to fourth spot with a hard-fought win away to Amblecote Institute D, Leigh Bennett winning the deciding frame against Mark Daniels on the black.
