Harris steals the thunder at relay run
12:07pm Thursday 8th August 2013 in Sport
STOURBRIDGE runners discovered that the Thunder Run 24-hour race lived up to its name when they took part in the off-road relay event this week.
Apart from the tricky terrain around the Staffordshire countryside, the runners literally had to contend with thunder and lightening as heavy rain prevailed for several hours.
Runners took it in turns to complete 10-kilometre laps with Stourbridge’s eight strong team of Duncan Cornish, Zoe Yeomans, Dave Sheppard, Natalie Dellar, Paul Bradley, Steve Burch, Andy Bernasconi and Bob Hopkins completing a total of 25 laps to finish 58th out of the 253 teams.
Stuart Hannan and Adam Harris also competed as individuals with the latter clocking up 140km in his 24-hour stint to claim eighth place from a 90-strong field.
Meanwhile, entries will be available on the day up until 5.30pm for this year’s Stourbridge Stumble race which takes place on Saturday at 6pm.
The popular multi-terrain 10km race starts in Mary Stevens Park and is preceded by a 3.5km fun run around the park at 5pm.
All runners taking part in the 10km event will receive a race memento and there will be medals for all the fun run finishers.
Entry forms can be obtained at srclub.co.uk or by contacting 01384 823857.
