COOMBS Wood have climbed clear of the Worcestershire League Division Two drop zone after a four wicket win over Netherton.
The Halesowen side threw caution to the wind when they replied and chased down a testing Netherton total of 218-8 with almost 15 overs to spare.
Batsman Danny Birch threw Netherton’s bowling attack out of their stride by smashing 63 runs off 39 balls.
Sam Perruzza, who also picked up bowling figues of 4-40, then supplied a more refined 55 before the experienced Kevin Baker saw Coombs Wood over the line with an unbeaten 36.
Romsley and Hunnington remain 21 points clear of Division Three’s relegation places after a two wicket win at Birlingham.
The hosts set a target of 233 and Greg Whittlestone with 64 and Alex Williams who added 37 gave Romsley a rousing start before Ashan Khan (39 not out) and Amin Javed (32no) saw them home.
