DUDLEY sprint sensation Kyle de Escofet snapped up two silver medals at the Midland Under 17 Championships which took place at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.
The Dudley and Stourbridge Harrier clocked 11.09 seconds when finishing second in the 100 metres with fellow Dudley speed-merchant Ben Tuka-Noka chasing him home for the bronze medal in 11.47.
Another Dudley sprinter Jamal Chambers came home seventh in 12.0.
Emily Horne contested the ladies 100m final, where she claimed a bronze medal in 13.21.
The times recorded weren’t particularly fast owing to the fact the sprinters were racing into a strong headwind.
De Escofet returned to Alexander Stadium the following day to claim his second silver in the 200m final when he clocked 22.34.
Two race walkers from the club travelled to Bury for the Lancashire One Hour Track Race.
Stuart Edgar, in only his second season of competitive walking, clinched second place after covering a distance of 9,190 metres.
The club’s oldest competitor, 80-year-old Eric Horwill covered a creditable 7,455m.
