Aston takes a break after drawn contest
11:31am Thursday 26th September 2013 in Sport
RYAN Aston says he is planning a break after a busy two-and-a-half years as a professional.
The Dudley middleweight was held to a draw by Tyan Booth last weekend at the Olympia in Liverpool having taken the fight at just four days notice, a fight screened live by Sky Sports on the Derry Matthew-Curtis Woodhouse undercard.
It was the second time the two have met with their last encounter also finishing in stalemate after Aston sustained a cut.
Aston, who has 10 wins, two draws and a defeat since turning professional in the summer of 2011, said: “I don’t think there will be a third fight, he’s not really a stepping stone for me and our styles do clash.
“It was a tight fight but I thought I’d won the fight by a round or two and so did the Sky commentators but a draw is neither here nor there.”
“But you have to take these decisions on the chin and accept these decisions.”
Looking ahead the southpaw added: “I’ve nothing planned at the minute but we’re going to sit down and discuss what comes next. “But for now I’m going to take a break after two-and-a-half years non stop training since I turned professional.”
