LYE Town remain the only unbeaten West Midlands League side this week following the surprise defeat of leaders Black County Rangers to Dudley Sports.
Lye kept their bandwagon rolling with a 6-0 demolition of Wolves Sporting Community.
The match was made memorable by the return of long time injury victim Ricky Anslow, who came off the bench to bag Lye’s fifth goal.
Anslow, last season’s leading marksman, has been sidelined since early summer after injuring his ankle while pre-season training on Clent Hills.
Lye joint-manager Martin Thomas said: “While it was great to see Ricky back, we’re not a one man band. It’s good that we’ve gone into October unbeaten in the league”.
Lye look to keep their unbeaten run going this Saturday when they entertain Wellington at Stourbridge but will be without Scott Moore, Nicky Pugh and Chris Poyntz.
