KINGSWINFORD cyclist Hannah Payton pulled out all the stops to win the National Cyclo-Cross Trophy Series race at Durham.
The former Stourbridge Cycling Club rider who now represents The Kinesis Morvello Project bided her time before overtaking series leader Annie Simpson on the second lap of a difficult course to pull 15 seconds clear.
Simpson made a tremendous effort to regain the lead with two laps remaining, but Payton held her nerve and attacked again to go clear and claim a decisive victory.
Hannah, pictured, will now represent Great Britain this weekend when she competes in the World Cup at Koksijde in Belgium The result means Payton now becomes the new series leader with three more rounds to go.
Brother Tom Payton, who represents Isla Bikes, came 18th in the senior mens race while dad Kevin clinched seventh spot in the veterans race.
Stourbridge Cycling Club were out in force at the West Midland League meeting in Leicester.
Pick of the results saw Anthony Neave come second in the Junior race while Jayne Cheslin was second lady veteran rider home.
Derek Hill came fourth in the 60 veteran category while Ian Cadwallader was 16th in the over 50’s vet while Marie Neave came eighth in the Under-10 girls race.
