FLYING athlete Ben Foster pulled out all the stops this week to win the Stourbridge Stagger.
It signalled Foster’s second major success this year, having already triumphed in the Birmingham Cross-Country League.
The Dudley Kingswinford runner didn’t have matters all his own way and had to hold off a determined challenge from Halesowen AC’s Tom Kenderdine who chased him all the way to line.
Foster clocked 67mins and 29secs for the 10 mile multi-terrain course to finish just seven seconds ahead of Kenderdine, while Stuart Hawkes of Kidderminster club Amazing Feet took third place in 68mins dead.
Dudley Kingswinford had plenty to celebrate as Helen Tromans proved the first veteran lady over 40 to finish, while team mate Carol Fisher captured the Over-50 prize.
Indeed, the DKs were out in force among the 400 -trong field where Rob Meredith came 10th in 71mins 3secs, which could have been better but for an untimely tumble which saw him lose several places.
Many Stagger regulars claimed conditions to be the worst they had known.
