STOURBRIDGE boxer Steven Pearce has his heart set on featuring in another of the popular Prizefighter tournaments this April.

Pearce entered last year’s tournament at Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall but lost out to eventual winner Glenn Foot.

He wants to be considered for the next event run by Matchroom Boxing, which takes place in April and is set to be screened on Sky Sports.

The Stourbridge scrapper can step up his request to be included by winning the British Masters welterweight crown when he clashes with Sheffield’s Ryan Hardy at Walsall Town Hall on March 1.

Pearce is a previous Midlands area champion and earned himself an international Masters title in his last appearance, when he defeated Rob Hunt.

Pearce claimed: “I’d like another crack at Prizefighter. It’s a great concept and I feel I’m a better fighter this time around. “Since the last Prizefighter, I’ve been in with a few good kids so I think the improvement is there for all to see.”
