Experts predict that Corrigan will be the one to watch

DUDLEY boxer Ryan Corrigan could be set to step out of the shadows.

The 22-year-old served his boxing apprenticeship alongside some of Priory Park’s illustrious stars, Ryan Aston and Tommy Ghent.

Corrigan followed them into the professional ranks and, while both Aston and Ghent have appeared in front of the TV cameras, Corrigan has been tucked away on the undercards, where he has picked up a couple of low-key victories that surprised his own coach.

Paul Gough has been in Corrigan’s corner for the past nine years.

Gough is now preparing Corrigan for his next fight at the Tower Ballrooms in Edgbaston on Saturday, March 22.

“I wasn’t really sure if Ryan would make it as a professional,” admitted Gough. “He’s a nice mover and natural counter-puncher, but I wasn’t sure if he’d have the strength for the pro game.

“But he’s progressing well and he’s going to be a strong featherweight and could come through under the radar.

Corrigan has already impressed British and Commonwealth champion Frankie Gavin when they sparred together, something that can only improve Corrigan’s chances.
