STOURBRIDGE rally crew Steve Deeley and Adam Proudman put electrical troubles behind them to have a reliable run in the latest round of the BTRDA rally championship.

During last Saturday's Lake District-based Malcolm Wilson rally, the pair showed good overall speed despite starting the rally on tyres that had already been used in two events. Unfortunately, with a tight rally budget, fresh tyres were not an option. They hope to have the tyre problem sorted before the next round, the Somerset rally based at Minehead.

They found stages two and three to be very slippery and difficult to make good progress. They also had an off-the-road excursion into the undergrowth on the flying finish at special stage foru, Greystoke. Luckily they had passed the flying finish and there were a group of spectators who dragged them back onto the track. Having a seeded start number 92 out of 100, they finished a creditable 52nd and fourth in class.

John Connor, from Halesowen, also had a steady run when co-driving for Steve Black in the same contest. Their pre-event target, having assessed the competition, was to achieve fifth in class, but they managed to finish fourth.

Quinton Motor Club’s Colin Watson, partnering Paul Clapham in their Peugeot 106, started the Tour of Epynt in 93rd position but were able to zoom up the leader board and finish a creditable 39th overall and fifth in their class without any major dramas.
