OLD Halesonians Hockey Club’s losing streak continues

OLD Halesonians Hockey Club’s losing streak stretched to four games as they failed to secure victory against Bridgnorth.

Hales struggled back in November when they fell to a 3-0 defeat in Bridgnorth and it did not get much better for them in this return fixture as they fight against disappointing form.

Despite the final result, it was Hales who started the strongest as they dominated possession and territory in the opening periods of the game. The sustained pressure paid off when they took the lead through striker Tom Bulteel.

Several chances fell to Hales but they were unable to extend their lead, with two goal line clearances from the visitors. Bridgnorth stole a goal back before the break, and the two teams went into the half time break all square at 1-1.

Bridgnorth looked a different side in the second half, and Hales struggled to capitalise on their own chances. The visitors looked much more organised and soon took the lead following a penalty corner.

At 2-1 Old Hales then became their own worst enemy as they attempted to stage a comeback. Paul Harrold was shown a yellow card and spent time in the sin-bin as frustration set in.

Bridgnorth took advantage of their extra man and made it 3-1 from a quick counter attack. Hales have now reached the final three games of the season and next travel to bottom side Wolverhampton as they attempt to break their run of poor form.
