STOURBRIDGE welterweight Sam Eggington is eagerly awaiting is involvement in the next Prizefighter tournament.
The Midlands champion has set his sights set on landing a bumper £30,000 pay day by winning the event at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, on April 5.
Eggington, 20, who has won eight and lost one of the nine fights in his career so far, had been due to have the 10th fight of his fledgling career at the Holte Suite at Aston Villa's Villa Park stadium last Saturday, but he pulled out to focus on fighting at York Hall.
This will be his second appearance at Prizefighter after competed as a late replacement in the third edition at Wolverhampton Civic Hall last year.
At the age of 19 last time around, he became the youngest fighter to ever complete in the tournament. However, he was outpointed in the first phase by Dale Evans despite putting up a determined display in only his fourth professional contest.
Eggington, know as 'The Savage', is now set to return to the format. Former British light middleweight title challenger Erick Ochieng, Commonwealth Games gold medallist Paddy Gallagher and Dean Byrne have also been included.
His manager and trainer Jon Pegg said: "A lot depends on the luck of the draw in this event, but there is nobody in it to cause great concern.
"Sam has been training like a man possessed to develop the quick action he will need. I wanted him on the bill at Villa Park but there is not enough time to do both."
