Alexander helps Stour CC to victory

AUDY Alexander's fine batting performance helped Stourbridge CC beat Coventry and North Warwickshire CC by 99 runs last Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Stour's openers set about posting an imposing score in the Birmingham League's Division Two contest.

A excellent 60 from Alex Bingham set the home side on the way to victory before Alexander knocked an unbeaten 71 off 74 balls as Stour finished their innings on 217-4.

When Coventry reached 74-2 it looked like they might have a chance of reaching the home side's score.

However, the key dismissal of opener Stephen French when Alexander had him caught by Matthew Bradley and a four wicket haul for just 34 runs from James Wood killed off any hopes for Coventry as Stour ran out winners by 99 runs.

The following day, in the ECB National Club Championship, Stourbridge lost in the first round when travelling to Kidderminster Victoria CC.

Stour won the toss and elected to bat. They made 177 all out from 45 overs after Alex Bingham hit 55, Josh banks 37 and Matt Bradley 22.

Kidderminster shared out the wickets amongst their bowling attack to give themselves a chance of victory.

The home side knocked off the total in 33.4 overs, losing seven wickets.

Three wickets for Stourbridge's Matt Bradley and two for James Winders could prevent Kidderminster getting over the line.

Connor Smith hit 60 and Craig Wood 32 as they won by three wickets.

Stourbridge will be back in league action when they welcome Brewood CC to the Memorial Ground this Saturday.
