CRADLEY Heathens could make the step up to a high level of racing should they win the National League title once again, according to the club’s management team.

Team bosses have revealed how they are currently deep in discussion over the 2015 season already.

The three-pronged management team are refusing to rule out an application to move into a higher level of league racing after five years in the National League.

Heathens claimed a clean sweep of honours last season and have so far stormed to some massive wins against King’s Lynn, Kent, Buxton and an impressive away win over Mildenhall.

Chairman Nigel Pearson says it would be “almost impossible” for Cradley to stay at the current level should they get close to replicating last season’s successes.

He said: “The management team are already planning towards 2015. We want to assure our supporters we remain as ambitious as ever for this club to continue to be successful.

“The team have been magnificent this season so far, but there is a long way to go and we know anything can happen.

“We have already had in-depth talks about the way forward from here, with or without a new track of our own. All options are being considered at this stage, including riding at a higher level but there are certain conditions which need to be met for that to happen.

“I think we are all agreed, however, that if this team goes on to win the National League title for a second successive season it would be almost impossible to stay in the league for a sixth season – we would have to step up.”

They will now face their bitter rivals the Mildenhall Fen Tigers at Monmore Green next Tuesday in the second leg of their Knockout Cup tie in the first part of a double header. The league encounter against Scunthorpe will follow immediately afterwards.

The meeting will start earlier at 7.15pm and admission prices have been set at £14 adults, £10 concessions and £2 children for 30 heats of racing.

The Heathens go into the fixtures on the back of another dominant display to claim victory against Kent Kings on Tuesday night.
