THE third round of the Halesowen Athletic Club’s Youth Development League Meeting took place on Sunday, June 22 hosted by Royal Sutton Coldfield Athletics Club.
The first race out saw Halesowen’s Safia Paraiso win the under 13 girls 75m in a PB of 10.7 seconds and the club didn’t have to wait long for further wins in the sprints as Isaac Gould won the under 13 boys 100m in 14.0 with Alexander Johnson taking the win in the B race in 14.1 (PB).
The winning streak continued with Cara Clarke running 13.5 in the under 15 100m B race and Tate Hendrickson running 21.4 seconds in the under 13 girls 200m.
Charles Hilliard finished his under 15 200m boys A race in the winning time of 22.8. Not content with just the 100m win, Isaac Gould also won the under 13 200m in 28.6.
Katrina Simpson ran a PB of 42.5s in the under 15 girls 300m and Kodi Davey ran a PB of 2.40,7 to win the under 13 800m boys race.
Grace Pritchard ran 4.09.7 in the under 13 1200m to take the win with a new PB. Rory Elliot also ran a PB of 5.33.0 to win the under 13 boys 1500m race finishing some 20 seconds ahead of the second placed Sutton athlete.
Livvy Worth led the under 15 girls 1500m race from the start to take the win in 5.08.3 with Lily Higgins taking the win in the B race in 5.12.4.
Out on the field it was Katrina Simpson who shone with a jump of 1.50m in the under 15 girls high jump competition, jumping 15cm higher than the second placed Worksop athlete.
In the long jump, Leo Nock jumped 50cm more than anyone else winning the under 13 boys B competition with a leap of 3.96m. Molly Jenks took the win in the under 15 girls long jump competition with 5.01m, almost 50cm further than the second placed Leicester athlete and Cara Clarke won the B with a PB of 4.89, over 50cm ahead of the others.
Lee Wright had another excellent discus competition taking the under 15 boys win with a PB of 39.84m. He followed this up with another PB, this time in the hammer throw, throwing 34.58 to take the win whilst teammate Sam Chance won the B competition with 17.36m. Sam took a second win of the competition, this time in the Javelin B competition throwing 24.96. In the under 13 girls competition, Tilly Giles threw a PB of 25.41m to win her event.
