ATHLETES from Dudley Kingswinford Running Club were amongst the prizes again last weekend.

On Saturday, DK fielded four teams in the Wrekin Relay Challenge, a new event where teams of three can tackle a tough 3.8 mile circuit with prizes to the team with the quickest aggregate time.

The men’s A team claimed second place, with Daren Thompson going off first in 30.31, Ben Foster on the second leg ran 24.48 and Matt Biggs ran 26.30 in the last leg.

The B team of Graham Wildgoose, Richard Bate and Pete Hood claimed third place with times of 30.53, 28.04 and 31.14 respectively.

The women's team of Julie Allen (38.42), Sally McConville (40.17) and Sandra Brain (34.55) were fourth.

A mixed team of Rob Sannwald (28.37), Helen Tromans (33.13) and Carol Fisher (35.56) claimed fifth in their category.

Later on Saturday, a couple of DK runners tackled the tough Timberhonger 10k, a very testing road race in Bromsgrove with a vicious climb in the last mile to test even the fittest of athletes.

Gary Bonner claimed 49th place in 43.03 to take the first MV50 prize and Dave Hickman stopped the clock in 47.55 for 117th place.

On Sunday, a huge contingent tackled the Wyre Forest Half Marathon. Paul Richards was first back for the club in 17th place in 1.36.34, John Andrews was 120th in 1.56.34, Carol Fisher in her second race in two days claimed first in her age group in 132nd overall in 1.58.57, Helen Hickman was third in her age group in 2.00.27 in 142nd, Marie Latreche finished in 2.01.17 in 147th to claim second in her age group.

Karen Doy was 186th in 2.08.00, Jo Clare was 193rd in 2.10.33, Liz Hettle finished in 2.17.39 for 212nd, Sally McConville, another runner doing back to back races, was 231st in 2.17.51 and Debbie Richard was 230th in 2.27.44.
