HIMLEY need to find their first win of the season before they run out of time to escape relegation, says skipper Greg Wright.

Wright believes his side is more than capable of putting a run together after an host of encouraging performances in recent weeks but says they must find the winning formula as soon as possible.

"We need to find a win very soon because we are running out of games," he said.

"If we do get a win then there is no reason at all why we can't go on a good run that will get us out of the relegation zone. We have to believe that.

"We are getting closer each week and I don't think it'll be long until we find that victory.

The latest display to demonstrate the club's recent improvement came against league leaders West Bromwich Dartmouth last Saturday.

Despite eventually losing by three wickets, it was showing that offered plenty of encouragement.

After being put into bat by the home side, an unbeaten knock of 147 from opener Wright helped Himley to a competitive total of 256.

Wright failed to find a partner to help his impressive innings until Stuart Wedge, batting at number seven, hit a vital 45.

In reply, West Bromwich reached their total after 53.5 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Aqsad Ali top scored for them with 44 after many of the home side's top order failed to kick on after getting starts.

Wright said: "The overriding positive was the fact that we could have beaten the team at the top of the league with just a bit of luck.

"That should now be a massive confidence boost to us as a side. We didn't have our Worcestershire players and the club guys got us very close to taking something from the game.

"We didn't get much luck but that is part and parcel of being down at the bottom and we are fully aware of that.

"If we can perform like that every week then it shouldn't be long until we get that first win.

"I've never been in a relegation battle but I know it is going to be extremely difficult and we have to continue to fight to get out of it.

"We are maybe paying the price for taking our eye off the ball as a club. However, we are now all pulling in the same direction, have the support of the committee and are all contributing well."

Himley's overseas player Sergio Fedee could make a return to the first team this weekend after hitting a century for the seconds.

Fedee has not featured regularly for the firsts this term but his return to form could be a big boost to as the club looks to get off the bottom of the Birmingham Premier League.

Himley will now welcome Kenilworth Wardens to Stourbridge Road this Saturday (noon start).

"We are keen to play this weekend and home advantage could prove the key," added Wright. "Kenilworth is a game that could be the start of a great escape."
