Thomas: Experience will make Lye stronger

First published in Sport by

LYE Town will become stronger the more experience they gain, says boss Martin Thomas.

The joint manager is pleased with his side's start to life in the Premier Division of the Midland Football League after they bagged their second win last weekend.

Lye beat Coleshill 2-1 away from home on Saturday thanks to second half strikes from Nicky Pugh and Christopher Russell.

Even though they failed to back that up when losing 2-1 away to Continental Star on Monday, Thomas thinks there is plenty more to come.

"We will get stronger when we get more experience under our belts," he said. "We will only get better as the season goes on.

"If you consider we have played so many away games then we haven't done too badly."

Lye have been forced to play their first eight games away from home due to the cricket season still taking place.

However, after this Saturday's trip to Alvechurch, Town will then welcome Shepshed Dynamo for their first home fixture of the campaign.

Thomas is now looking forward to taking on teams at Stourbridge Road.

"If we can get a few wins at home then we will have started the season quite well," he added.

Centre back Sam Mills has now joined fromRushall Olympic.
