CHAIRMAN Colin Brookes thinks Halesowen Town are now getting rewarded for their honest endeavour.

The Yeltz secured back-to-back home wins with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Witton Albion at The Grove on Tuesday night.

It meant manager John Hill's side quickly returned to winning ways following last Saturday's 2-1 away defeat to Buxton.

"We had to battle hard for the win against Witton but that is one thing this group of players will do," said Brookes.

"The fans appreciate that and it is now starting to bring the results as well.

"That is down to the manager and how he has got the team playing for each other."

The only goal of the game came from Neil MacKenzie's first half strike. The win extended Halesowen's unbeaten home record to seven games.

The Yeltz will welcome Matlock Town this Saturday in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy (3pm kick off).

"It would be great if we could progress in the cup," added Brookes. "We beat Matlock away in the league so it would be nice if we could repeat that this weekend."

Halesowen are sweating on the fitness of Chris Lait ahead of Saturday's clash.
