DUDLEY Kingswinford slumped to bottom spot after defeat against league leaders South Leicester last Saturday.

The now prop up National League Three Midlands despite an reasonably encouraging show against the high flyers at Heathbrook.

South Leicester proved why they are top of the league with probably the most assured performance the DK faithful have seen this season to claim a 36-6 win.

DK’s best chance of scoring a try came in the second half when the home side had put together a series of drives and resulting rucks by the forwards. They were steadily approaching the South Leicester try line when suddenly the ball shot out of a ruck and the visitors kicked for touch. The kick did not make it into touch and was collected by Donavan Smile, who had open ground to run into and some supporting players. He was halted by a blast on the referee's whistle, who was drawn to a fight taking place under the South Leicester posts, which he resolved by giving two of the five yellow cards he issued during the game.

DK had to settle for as scrum 35 metres out without a scrum half and against reorganised defence.

DK probed throughout the game but found the South Leicester defence robust, and were unable to engineer the breaks.

However, the two tries scored by South Leicester’s big wing Lee Robinson summed up DK's problems. His first try on 18 minutes saw him able to attack the gap between the outside backs and have the power to make the line.

His second try was a simple run in after the defence was breached in midfield and the cover drawn in.

Jamie Hearn was able to kick two penalties after 38 and 56 minutes and could have slotted some more if we had not slipped so far behind on the scoreboard.

DK will now face a crucial contest away against Bournville this Saturday. They sit just two places above Carl Douglas' men.
