NEW Causeway United boss Mark Jones claimed a win in his first game in charge.

United bagged a 1-0 away success over Tipton Town last Saturday thanks to a goal just before half time by Sam Beasley.

Jones stepped into the vacant manager's job after former boss Andy Mole handed in his resignation after Causeway's 8-0 Boxing Day defeat at the hands of local rivals Lye Town.

Mole's assistant Jones took up the main role and had an instant impact.

United will look to build on the win when they travel to take on sixth-placed Boldmere St Michael this Saturday.

Meanwhile, in the West Midlands Premier, Cradley Town slipped to their fourth defeat in a row when losing 7-4 away at Wellington last Saturday.

Goals from David Almond, James Welnitschuk and a double from Chris Bladen couldn't halt their run of defeats.

Chairman Trevor Thomas put the poor form down to weather disruptions and backed the Hammers to finish the season strong.

He said: "It has been difficult because it has been hard to get a team together over the Christmas period, especially because we have had to travel away a lot.

"We have also been unable to train much due to the condition. However, I think you will see how strong we really are once February comes and we are back playing and training on a regular basis."

Town are set to take on Willenhall Town at The Beeches this Saturday.
