LYE Town boss Martin Thomas says he will be looking to bolster his squad next season.

Thomas and joint-manager Darren Goodall think they could do with the extra numbers as their players begin to feel the affects of a long campaign.

Lye lost to leaders Basford United last Saturday before drawing with Causeway United on Easter Monday.

They lost the Basford game 3-0 after being forced to play the whole game with ten men after Brad Smith saw red in the first minute for apparently halting a goalscoring opportunity.

Thomas thinks the effort the players had to put in then caught up with them just two days later during the 1-1 draw with Causeway.

"I don't think it was a sending off against Basford," said Thomas. "The ref needed to use his common sense because their player was going away from goal and was only just past the centre circle.

"The players then battled hard and didn't concede the last two goals until late in the game.

"Credit to the players for the shift they put in, but I think that showed in the first half against Causeway.

Damien Whitcombe strike in the 81st minute cancelled out Joshua Thomas March's opener for United.

"I think we were slow in the first half and the Basford game had clearly taken its toll on us.. However, we eventually got back in the game and had the chances to win it.

"We will be looking to add more players to the squad for next season as the players are looking tired with a few games left."

A coach to this Saturday's game at Dunkirk with leave Lye's Stourbridge Road ground at 12noon.
