DUDLEY Town are not planning to run an under-21 side next season after coach Mark Phillips left to become manager at Stourport Swifts.

Phillips took up the hotseat at Walshes Meadow last week after guiding the young Robins to cup glory this campaign.

Town chairman Steve Austin said: "As a result of Mark (Phillips) leaving we don't have any plans to run an under-21 side next season.

"His departure is a blow to the club but we wouldn't stand in anyone's way if they feel they need to move on a progress.

"We have already incorporated some of the under-21s into the first team this season and are hopeful they will stay.

"We will still bring youngsters through because that is a massive part of how this club operates. It will just be in other ways and other youth set-ups."

The Robins continued their pleasing end to the season thanks to a 3-2 win at The Dell against Bewdley last Saturday.

Twice they came from behind before netting a winner with just two minutes on the clock.

Alex Byatt made it 1-1 on the hour mark, Rhys Morgan then equalised once more in the 77th minute before Rion Francis-Mill struck late on.

"We have done well and are ending the season strong," added Austin. "We now want to maintain that for the remaining games."

Town are set to face Wolverhampton Sporting Community at home tonight before travelling to Wednesfield this Saturday.
